Shanae M
Mental Health Counselor-LP

Life can bring obstacles that may be challenging to navigate, and each situational circumstance is

unique. I firmly believe in advocating for and working collaboratively with all walks of life, as well as

providing unconditional acceptance and a non-judgmental space. My role as a therapist is to assist each

client in actualizing their goals and provide support along their journey. I am a strong believer in

providing my clients with gentle compassion, as well as the tools and techniques they need to live a full-

filling life.

I specialize in meeting clients where they are and utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),

Psychodynamic, Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Mindfulness-

Based Therapy, and Existential Therapy approaches to engage and clients during therapy sessions. I also

provide Christian affirming counseling for clients who would like to integrate their religion into their

therapeutic journey.

I hold a Limited Permit License to practice Mental Health Counseling in New York State. I completed my

bachelor’s degree in psychology at York CUNY College, as well as my bachelor’s degree in Speech

language Pathology at Brooklyn College. I have obtained my master’s degree in Mental Health

Counseling at Hofstra University. I have experience in providing guidance, psychoeducation as well as

emotional and familial support to children, adolescents, and parents who experience stressors that

affect functionality in various aspects of life. I have worked with individuals and groups who struggle

with mild to severe cognitive, emotional, neurological, and physical disabilities.

My goal as a therapist is to help clients through mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, post-

traumatic stress, panic disorders, relationship issues, stress, social phobia, eating disorders, grief & loss

etc. If you’re ready to pursue counseling and would like to work towards change and growth, please
